Unamused 1: #whitegirlproblems

Today is the 8th February (obviously, it says it on this post). On the 8th February 1992, the song "I'm too sexy" Right said Fred got to number on in the charts, apparently. The song can be listened to here by the way). Now this is pretty irrelevant to 'hashtag' whitegirlproblems you may think. 

WELL. I am a white girl and do you know what one of my problems is? 

PEOPLE WHO THINK THEY ARE TOO SEXY! So I have written a little bit about the number one type of people who think they are too sexy. When they just aren't. 

Number one type of people that think they are too sexy, and that cause me to have problems:

These people like to think that because they have been to Beyond Retro and bought some denim shorts they are therefore different because they have a fancy for vintage attire "I'm like so totes different, I'm so not mainstream. Look at ma Levis". Nothing wrong with that. I myself, have a beautiful pair of Lee shorts that are a staple in my wardrobe and look dreamy with a tan belt and striped tee. BUT. Do you know what is wrong? The ones who think they are too sexy to wear their vintage denim Levi shorts just as they were. The ones who think...having their pockets on show IS ACCEPTABLE?! NOT only can I see the pockets of your shorts but I can see YOUR BUM. You are FIFTEEN. Why do you need the cheeks of your bum hanging out, for everyone to see. Have more respect for yourself.

And by the way, 'pocket,' according to Google dictionary is "a small bag sewn into or on clothing so as to form part of it, used for carrying small articles" I can't see anything in this definition to suggest that pockets were designed to cover the top mid part of your thighs along with a bit of frayed denim that was once a lovely pair of shorts.


Another problem with these kinds of people is their jealous need for glasses, when it is unnecessary BECAUSE they can SEE. WITHOUT glasses. I wear glasses, and, I am a fan of the Ray-Ban wayfarer style specs. A few years ago, one of my friends had a pair of these pesky 'pretend' clear lens glasses on after it became 'cool' again to wear wayfarers (I think he had gone to Shoreditch one day and came back changed) . I said to him that he was cheating and mocking everyone who wore glasses. I still feel the same. I don't have the choice to wear glasses or not - I have to, otherwise I will topple off of the platform for not being able to see, and become another statistic. At the same time I'd be the reason why the 17:40 to Liverpool Street was 'delayed by approximately, ten minutes'. 


Glasses, unless you need them, should not be worn. You are just being unnecessary. 


(Yes, I am aware that contact lenses are available, but it is besides the point)
